Season Settings are accessible through Pool Menu: Change Pool Settings: Season Settings.
You can make changes to the basic settings anytime during the season. However, changes to the last three items, Weekly Pool Fee, % to Manager, and % to Season Winner, will go into effect for the current week and remaing weeks, but will not affect previously played weeks.
These are the basic settings for your pool that will carry throughout the season.
First Week Begins:
Mac QB uses this to calculate the dates for each week in your season. Whatever you enter will be the date for the first week in you pool. The second week will be dated 7 days later, the third, 14 days later, etc..
The date you enter will determine the default day of the week for entering the schedule and the entry forms. If the Day you have entered falls on a Sunday, then Sun becomes the default day of the week in the schedules you enter. If it falls on Saturday, then Sat becomes the default day of the week. If a game is to be played on a day of the week other than the default day of the week, then it will be noted on the Entry Form: NY Giants at Arizona (Thurs).
Weeks in Season:
The weeks in your pool season tell Mac QB when your pool will end. It can be any number up to 25. If you are doing NFL games, you'll problably want to set this to the number of games in the regular season. You can increase the number of weeks at any time without affecting the rest of the pool data.
Use For Winnings:
The Master Sheet heading will show the value of the pool, using this entry and the numerical value of the pool. Some managers prefer to use a euphemism, such as Prize Points. If you wish a dollar sign attached, make it the last character in you winnings title. For example, Pays: $ or Pool Value: $. It will then appear on the Master Sheet as Pays: $135.50 or Pool Value: $135.50.
Weekly Pool Fee:
This is the entry fee for each week's pool. Mac QB uses this to calculate each week's pool value, the amount that goes to the Manager, etc.. If you change this during the season, only the current and future weeks will be affected.
% to Manager:
You need some remuneration for your time, effort, and expenses. Players do not consider it unreasonable for there to be a manager's fee. After all, there wouldn't be a pool without your efforts. The manager's fee should be included in the Rules Sheet (See Example Documents) so the players know the percentage that will be deducted from the winnings in each week's pool.
The customary fee is 10%. However, if you know that will not cover your costs, adjust it accordingly. If you change this during the season, only the current and future weeks will be affected.
% to Season Winner:
To increase interest in the Player Standings (their season won-lost record) and to entice players to play each week, you can deduct a percentage from each week's pool and award it to the player with the best season won-lost record. 5- 10% is the usual amount.
If you change this during the season, only the current and future weeks will be affected.
